FREE Household energy audits through the GREEN LOANS program
To help Australians tackle climate change the Australian Government has created a new initiative – The Green Loans. This program aims to assist households to reduce their energy and water bills whilst helping the environment.
There are two main components to the Green Loans program:
- a FREE Home Sustainability Assessment and report (valued at over $250.00)
- access to a Green Loan subsidy provided to participating financial institutions, to cover up to 4 years of interest for a loan up to $10,000.00, to implement changes recommended in the assessment report.

THE ENERGY AUDIT
An energy Audit plan is a set of well-planned actions aimed at reducing an organisations energy bill while offering improvements in environmental comfort and reducing the environmental impact of the organisations activities. A full carbon footprint audit also includes other areas not included directly in the energy audit.
These additional areas include:
- Travel
- Staff travel
- Transport
- Food and beverage
- Telecommunications
- Waste management
- IT services
Limelight Illuminations consultants perform three levels of audit in accordant with AS-3598-2000. The energy user may decide on a single level of audit, or may start with Level 1 audit and use the results to decide whether to progress to one of the other levels.
The content of, and time spend on, an audit will vary depending on the size of the site and the annual cost of energy use. Savings may be identified and recommended in the report at any level of audit. However, the accuracy of the cost and savings figures shall be stated.
